Vice President Joe Biden has his own reality TV show, but he’s still noticed the work of Julia Louis-Dreyfus on HBO’s ‘VEEP‘ — and he’s taken the time to congratulate her.
The Vice President contacted Louis-Dreyfus after her Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, according to POLITICO.
“[Biden] was in touch with me to congratulate me on winning the Emmy for this part, and he was very funny about it, which led me to believe that he may have seen a couple of episodes,” Louis-Dreyfus said.
Although Hollywood leans left, the unique quality of Louis-Dreyfus’ character Selina Meyer is that she has not identified herself as a Republican or Democrat. The actress also said the show strives to portray Washington life as accurately as possible, working with political consultants from both sides of the aisle to vet scripts and make things believable — and funny. Louis-Dreyfus said they’ve done a “pretty good job” at portraying the D.C. world, and Biden’s staff seems to agree.
“I will say, I’ve actually heard from people who will remain anonymous who work in the office of the vice president that they’ve started to say, ‘That’s a ‘VEEP’ moment.’ That’s a huge compliment to the writing of the show,” the actress said.
The second season of ‘VEEP’ premieres April 14.
