The Flash actor Ezra Miller issued an apology while revealing an effort to get mental health treatment on Tuesday.
The statement, given by one of the actor’s representatives to Variety, comes after multiple run-ins with the law in recent months that have rocked Miller’s Hollywood career.
“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

Miller’s most recent bout with the law was on Aug. 8, when Vermont State Police gave the actor a citation to appear before the Vermont Superior Court on Sept. 26 after the actor was charged with felony burglary. The citation dates back to an incident in May, when Miller allegedly stole several bottles of alcohol at a house in Stamford, Vermont, while the owners were away.

Earlier in 2022, Miller was arrested multiple times in Hawaii, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The actor was arrested on March 27 after Miller started yelling obscenities at the bar, grabbing a microphone from a karaoke singer, and lunging at a man playing darts, police said. Miller was later arrested again after apparently flinging a chair, giving a woman “an approximate half-inch cut,” according to police.

On Thursday, it was reported that Warner Bros. Discovery, the company releasing The Flash film, was considering three options for the movie: have Miller give an interview explaining the behavior and having the actor do limited press for the film ahead of its release, releasing the film with Miller doing little for the film’s marketing and publicity, or canceling the film outright, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Another DC Comics film from Warner Bros. Discovery, Batgirl, which had a budget of $90 million and had already finished filming, was recently canceled, according to Complex.
The Flash is set to release on June 23, 2023.
