President Trump cheered Ford Motor Co. Tuesday morning for its expected announcement that it will invest in three auto plants in Michigan.
“Big announcement by Ford today. Major investment to be made in three Michigan plants. Car companies coming back to U.S. JOBS! JOBS! JOBS!” Trump tweeted.

Ford is expected to announce a “significant” investment in three Michigan plants, but it’s not clear how many jobs will be created or what the total investment amount will be, according to the Detroit News.
In one case, Ford has promised $700 million in new money toward the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Mich., which was negotiated in a 2015 contract between the company and the United Auto Workers.
Trump recently visited Michigan to tout new investments made by car companies in the state and to urge others to bring more manufacturing jobs back to places he won.
According to the Detroit News, Ford agreed to invest $9 billion in the United States through 2019 and that will either save or create about 8,500 jobs in its contract with the UAW.
The company has previously announced it wasn’t going to build a plant in Mexico that Trump had repeatedly criticized and would instead invest more in the United States. One of those investments was a $700 million upgrade to a facility in Michigan that created 700 new jobs.
