Pence: Trump will accept election results if there is a ‘clear outcome’

Donald Trump’s running mate said the Republican presidential nominee will accept the results of the next Tuesday’s election so long as there is a “clear outcome.”

“The campaign’s made it very clear — a clear outcome, obviously both sides will accept,” Indiana Gov. Pence told Fox News’ Chris Wallace in an interview on Sunday.

“I think both campaigns have also been very clear that in the event of disputed results, they reserve all legal rights and remedies,” he added.

Pence’s comments come as Trump continues to tell voters in key battleground states that the election is “rigged” and they should be on the lookout for in-person voter fraud when they go to cast their ballots on Nov. 8. Trump himself has previously said he will “totally” accept the outcome of the upcoming presidential election — if he wins.

The GOP vice presidential nominee also expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to unite Americans, who have grown increasingly divided over the course of this election, if he makes it to the Oval Office.

“The way this country is going to come together is when we deliver the change that the American people long to see,” Pence told Wallace.

Polls released Sunday morning showed Clinton maintaining a narrow lead over Trump among likely voters nationwide, though both candidates remain deadlocked in several battleground states. Trump will make five campaign stops on Sunday across five different states, while his Democratic opponent will travel to Ohio and New Hampshire.
