Car crushes man to death

A man was killed Wednesday when the car he was working on him fell on him in Riverdale Heights.

Prince George’s County Police spokesman Cpl. Evan Baxter said it appears the jack gave way while the man worked underneath the vehicle.

The incident happened around 1 p.m., in the 5400 block of Carters Lane in Riverdale Heights.

The man was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police are investigating, and said his name won’t be released until his family is notified.

Springfield man charged in deadly DUI

A Springfield man has been charged in an alleged drunken-driving crash that killed a teenager in Richmond overnight.

Richmond police said 23-year-old Varinder Chahal ran a red light shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday and his 2004 Mazda 6 struck a 2007 Toyota Yaris, then hit a building.

A passenger in the Yaris, 19-year-old Carolina Perez, of Virginia Beach, died at a hospital a few hours later. The Yaris driver and another passenger were hospitalized with injuries police said weren’t life-threatening.

Chahal has been charged with felony manslaughter, driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a blood or breath test.

Night Dreams robber suspect charged with more heists

A man suspected in the armed robbery of a sex shop has been charged with six additional commercial robberies.

Montgomery County police said 25-year-old Ramon Michael Gunn, confessed to seven robberies after he was arrested for the armed robbery of the Night Dreams store in Rockville.

The robberies took place between Jan. 11 and Feb. 18.

He faces seven counts of armed robbery and one count of fourth-degree sex assault for inappropriately touching a female during the robbery of a Gaithersburg salon on Jan. 30.

During the investigation of the crime spree, police developed Gunn as a suspect and kept surveillance on him.
