Biden pushing amnesty to expand Democratic base: Mo Brooks

Alabama Senate candidate Rep. Mo Brooks charged Tuesday that President Biden is opening the border and eyeing amnesty for illegal immigrants in the hopes that they will reward him by voting for Democrats in future elections.

“It’s a power play. It’s a political power play,” he told Secrets. “That’s a made-for-Democrat voter,” he said two days after announcing plans to run for the 2022 seat opened by Sen. Richard Shelby’s retirement.

Brooks is an immigration hawk who has No. 1 ratings with several anti-amnesty immigration groups and was a key supporter of former President Donald Trump’s efforts on the issue. In a symbolic move, Trump’s architect of immigration policy, senior adviser Stephen Miller, flew to Huntsville, Alabama, to endorse Brooks Monday night.

The border situation has become a crisis just two months into Biden’s term, with over 100,000 illegal immigrants surging over last month, and some wore T-shirts reading, “Biden, Please Let Us In.”

Brooks, who led the congressional fight to protest some state electoral vote counts, said that Biden’s border opening is one part of the Democratic effort to steal future elections. He also cited the controversial H.R. 1/S. 1 election reform proposals that would open more voting to mail-in ballots and put the Federal Election Commission into Democratic hands.

“One is the ‘Voter Fraud Enhancement Act’ that the Democrats are pushing, House Resolution 1, and the other is the zeal with which Joe Biden and the socialists want to grant amnesty and citizenship to illegal aliens,” said Brooks in mocking the For the People Act.

Citing studies showing that many immigrants end up on social welfare programs, he added, “whether they’re here illegally, or here lawfully, they’re much more likely to be dependent on the generosity of taxpayers, which means that they’re much more likely to vote Democrat because the Democrats are the ones who love giving away other people’s money.”

His announcement speech at a Huntsville shooting range was packed with 400-500 supporters. Brooks noted that the event was nicked by some members of the media who were upset that not everybody was wearing masks.

But he said that with so many people vaccinated or immune, people are deciding now whether they need masks.

“Of course, the media immediately saw that about 95% of us were not wearing masks,” he said, adding, “My response was, well, I believe in liberty and freedom. And people who have certain health issues that require them to protect themselves should take extraordinary measures to protect themselves. But it’s their right. They’re adults. It’s their right to decide for themselves what protections they want to undertake. And those of us who have been vaccinated, those of us who have had the disease and now have immunity, we’re in an entirely different category, so it’s not a one-size-shoe-fits-all feet. Different circumstances for different people require different reactions.”
