Police make arrests after man claims he was kidnapped and tied to tree naked

Police in New Hampshire arrested two people they claim kidnapped a man, told him to strip naked, and tied him to a tree.

Ariel Dupuis, 29, allegedly helped 37-year-old Ronald Betances kidnap the victim, who has not been publicly identified, at knifepoint in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Friday, according to ABC News.

The man told investigators he was told to get into a car where his cellphone and wallet were taken by the duo. The victim recounted being driven to several locations before being taken to Derry, a town located in the southern part of the state. The man said his feet and wrists were tied and that he was then bound to the tree and assaulted.

Heather Hamel, a Manchester police spokeswoman, said that after the victim was able to escape, he called police and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators don’t believe the kidnapping to be random and said those involved know one another.

Betances was charged with kidnapping and robbery while Dupuis was charged with criminal liability to kidnapping and criminal liability to robbery.
