It’s been a tough couple of days for NPR and the Schillers. When I sat down to write my Wednesday Examiner column arguing that NPR would be wise to agree to phase out government funding, Vivian Schiller was CEO of NPR and Ron Schiller was president of the NPR Foundation, preparing to leave for a position with the Aspen Institute. Now, less than 24 hours later, Vivian Schiller has resigned from NPR and Ron Schiller resigned from the Aspen Institute.
Here is the full statement from the Aspen Institute
The Aspen Institute is headed by Walter Isaacson, whose biographies of Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein are first rate. I find it easy to believe that Isaacson was profoundly uncomfortable with some of the views Ron Schiller expressed in James O’Keefe’s sting video.
