Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke hosted a self-proclaimed “birther” on his radio show in 2013 to discuss the legitimacy of former President Barack Obama’s college education, according to a report Monday.
In a 2013 episode of “Commander Z,” a radio program hosted by Zinke before he was a member of Congress or a Cabinet member, Zinke interviewed former Navy SEAL Larry Bailey, who in 2012 announced he was a “birther” and said Obama was not born in the U.S, according to the episode, which was unearthed by CNN’s KFile.
During the interview with Zinke, Bailey said a black Muslim man aided Obama in getting admitted to Harvard Law School and that he was able to afford the prestigious university with help from the Saudis.
“I’d like to see his transcripts. I’d like it definitive,” Zinke said.
“I hear things, you read things, you know, and obviously they’re — if our national PRISM program is out in the wire you, you’d think that we could get a hold of our president’s college transcripts, but maybe that’s just a bridge too far,” Zinke said.
“Birther” is a term used for those who question the legitimacy of Obama’s natural born citizenship.
