Lawmakers called for firmer laws protecting drivers and passengers from dangerous and deadly car parts at a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing Wednesday on defects found in Takata airbags.
This hearing comes just a few weeks after the Senate held their own hearing searching for answers.
“The incredibly slow response to this problem is just the latest reminder that we need stronger laws to protect drivers and passengers and to hold manufacturers accountable for the cars they sell,” said Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill.
Members of the committee strongly suggested more transparency between government agencies and auto manufacturers to help stop further recalls from happening.
