Speakeasy: Newt describes First Lady Calista

“First of all she is a very strong personality, which Nancy Reagan was. She actually describes herself as being a cross between Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush with just a slight bit of Jackie Kennedy tossed in and I think there is, somewhere swirling in there, the model Calista would like to live up to.”

Former House Speaker and current GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich, talking about his wife Calista and the type of First Lady she would be. Newt described Calista as being very musical — a trained pianist and singer at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, “so she is really into music and I think she would be very musical in the White House and music education orientated,” Newt said, adding that she would focus also on cancer awareness as First Lady, the disease having impacted members of her family.
