Players on bubble jockey for position tonight
One starting job remains in limbo and will be decided tonight. Another starting job that was supposed to be undecided certainly seems anything but.

When the Redskins close out the preseason vs. Jacksonville tonight, there’s not a whole lot to be decided among starters. But there are a few spots yet to be decided at the lower end of the roster. Washington will make its final cuts Friday, getting down to its final 53.
One of those cuts will include a punter. Derrick Frost and Durant Brooks have punted about even thus far. If Brooks has a big game, the job likely would be his. Frost has had big preseasons before only to have mediocre seasons.
The starting defensive tackle position is technically open, though Kedric Golston has consistently started ahead of Anthony Montgomery since the latter broke his hand.
The Redskins appear set at linebacker, corner, safety, quarterback and tight end. But other questions remain:
Do they keep Marcus Mason? » The Redskins will have room to keep an extra player at a position or two. Would they rather keep Mason as a fourth running back — he would be inactive every week — or a sixth wideout? Receiver Billy McMullen has played well and might contribute more early given the struggles and injuries of the two rookie receivers, Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. If Mason sticks, it also means they’re keeping one fullback — Mike Sellers.
Who makes the offensive line? » After the starters, the reserves should be Stephon Heyer, Chad Rinehart, Jason Fabini and Justin Geisinger. That would leave Todd Wade out of a job, but his injury and poor special teams blocking are the culprits.
Does defensive end Chris Wilson earn a job? » Not if his play doesn’t improve. He hasn’t impressed many with his play and rookie Rob Jackson is a potentially more rounded player. Also, the Redskins needed Wilson for his speed, but with Jason Taylor that need diminished. One veteran called Wilson an improved player; it would be wise to show it.
