The Philadelphia Police Department used an old ‘Saved by the Bell’ PSA to make a bizarre new anti-drug commercial

The Philadelphia Police Department released an anti-drug PSA on Thursday that just might be the strangest version of 90s nostalgia.

They altered footage from a 1991 episode of Saved by the Bell where the student body of Bayside High School warns the audience that “there’s no hope with dope” to include the Philadelphia Police Commissioner.

The Philly PD decided to photoshop the image of Police Commissioner Charles H. Rasey over the face of former NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff, who was in the original video.

They also edited Ramsey’s voice over Tartikoff’s.

Sgt. Eric Gripp, the department’s social media manager, told the New York Daily News his original plan was for every one of the main characters to have a police officer’s face photoshopped on top of it, but said it was too overly difficult with people’s conflicting schedules.

“(I) just got tired of waiting and crudely pasted the commissioner’s face over the original video,” Gripp said.

Ramsey saw the video before its release and found it amusing.

“The boss is very down-to-earth and has a great sense of humor,” he said.
