McCarthy-aligned PAC raises $73 million in third-quarter fundraising haul

The political action committee aligned with House Republican leadership announced a fundraising haul Wednesday of $73 million in the third quarter.

The Congressional Leadership Fund, which works with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to advance House Republicans in elections, said it began October with $114 million in cash on hand available to be spent in the last month before the midterm elections. CLF and its nonprofit arm, the American Action Network, have raised a combined $295 million during this election cycle, a record.

“We continue to shatter records this cycle because there is palpable enthusiasm behind electing a Republican Majority and ending Democrat single party rule,” said CLF President Dan Conston in a statement. “We have put ourselves in an excellent position and we’ll continue to execute on our plans to help win the House Majority.”

The CLF outraised House Majority PAC, the top Democratic super PAC for House races, in the third quarter and $220 million to $134 million for the cycle as a whole.

CLF said last week its fall reservations set a new record for spending after the 2020 election cycle. At the beginning of October, it made another $14 million in ad buys in 15 House districts. The PAC said it is mostly spending offensively on districts that President Joe Biden won in 2020, adding that this isn’t the end of its spree and that it will make more ad buys before Election Day.
