Tulsi Gabbard hit 2020 presidential rival Kamala Harris as being unqualified to be president, arguing that she doesn’t have the foreign policy chops or mettle to be in the White House.
“I think one of the things I’m most concerned with is, Kamala Harris is not qualified to serve as commander in chief, and I can say this from a personal perspective as a soldier. She’s got no background or experience in foreign policy, and she lacks the temperament that is necessary for a commander in chief,” Gabbard told “Outkick the Coverage” on Tuesday.
The Hawaii congresswoman launched the attack when asked whether Harris’ criticism of Joe Biden’s record on busing during the first Democratic debate was fair.
“No, it didn’t [seem fair]. But I think I’ll leave that battle to Biden and Harris,” she said.
Harris’ campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.
Before her election to the Senate in 2017, Harris was the attorney general of California.
Gabbard, who has deployed twice to the Middle East, said her experience as a soldier and in Congress makes her more prepared to be president than other Democrats vying for the nomination.
“I’ve seen the cost of war firsthand. I’ve experienced the consequences of what happens when we have presidents, as we have from both political parties in the White House, who lack experience, who lack that foreign policy understanding, who therefore fall under the influence of the foreign policy establishment, the military-industrial complex,” Gabbard continued. “This is what’s so dangerous. This is what we’ve seen occurring over time.”
