Woman tased and arrested after not wearing mask at middle school football game

An Ohio woman was tased and arrested this week after refusing to wear a face covering while watching a junior high football game from the stands.

“You’re not arresting me for nothing, I ain’t doing nothing wrong,” a woman can be heard yelling in a video posted online as police handcuffed her in the bleachers of the football game Wednesday, according to WTRF-TV.

The woman, identified as Alecia Kitts of Marietta, Ohio, was sitting with her mother in the stands watching the high school football game when a disagreement broke out between her and an officer regarding the state’s coronavirus face-covering mandate.

Kitts is seen struggling with the police officer before the officer deploys his Taser on her.

“Tasing this lady over not wearing a damn mask,” one witness can be heard saying in the video.

“Come on, it’s just a mask!” Kitts’s mother can be heard saying, as her daughter is taken away by police.

The Logan-Hocking Local School District released a statement about the incident and said an investigation is ongoing.

“During a middle school football game held at the Logan-Hocking Local School District on the evening of September 23, 2020, an attendee was asked to comply with the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s and the athletic facility’s policies,” the statement read. “The attendee refused to do so and consequently was asked to leave by the attending law enforcement officer. After resisting the request to exit the premises, the individual was apprehended at the discretion of the attending law enforcement officer. The school district is not able to comment further on details of the incident due to the ongoing investigation.”
