F-16 fighter jet crashes at Nevada Air Force base

An Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed in Nevada on Wednesday, and the condition of its pilot is unknown, the Air Force said.

The jet, assigned to Nellis Air Force Base in southern Nevada, crashed around 10:30 a.m. The Air Force said the crash occurred during “routine training” at the Nevada Test and Training Range.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and the incident is under investigation.

The crash is the fourth incident involving military aircraft over the last 24 hours.

A U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier II jet crashed during takeoff at Djibouti Ambouli International Airport on Tuesday. Its pilot ejected from the aircraft before the crash and was in stable condition.

Four Marines were presumed dead Tuesday when a CH-53E helicopter crashed during a routine training mission near El Centro, Calif.

A Marine Corps CH-53 helicopter “sustained minor structural damage” Tuesday while landing in Djibouti. The aircraft’s crew was not injured.
