‘Misogynistic’: Sen. Hawley slams Thomas recusal calls over his wife’s texts

When asked about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas‘s wife Ginni‘s texts regarding the 2020 election and calls for the justice to recuse himself in future cases on the matter, Sen. Josh Hawley called it strange, seeing as Ginni is “an independent, adult woman.”

The senator told CNN’s Manu Raju, “It just seems a little strange to me all of these calls for her husband to be what, like, minding her better?”

“Frankly, I think it’s kind of misogynistic.”

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot will likely attempt to interview the justice’s wife as part of its probe into the riot and subsequent breach of the Capitol that day, a source told the Washington Post.
