Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Josh Hader received a standing ovation Saturday night from fans during his first appearance in a baseball game since a firestorm began over the discovery of racist and homophobic tweets he posted as a teenager.
Many of the more than 36,000 fans attending the home game at Miller Park applauded after Hader entered the game, standing and clapping.

Hader, 24, wrote tweets during his teenage years that said, among other things, “White power” and “I hate gay people.”
Hader apologized for the posts, saying he was “immature and obviously said some things that were inexcusable.”
He expressed gratitude to fans who cheered for him.
“It means a lot,” Hader said after the game. “Having Milwaukee’s support, just knowing that they know my true character. Just forgiving me for my past, because that’s not who I am today.”
