Lawyer Lisa Bloom claims victory over Bill O’Reilly: ‘We can slay dragons’

Lisa Bloom, the high-profile lawyer at the center of the sexual harassment controversy surrounding Bill O’Reilly, claimed victory on Wednesday when Fox News said it was parting ways with its star anchor.

“This is what happens when women speak our truth,” she said in her “victory statement” on Twitter. “We can slay dragons.”

Bloom represented three women who said they had in the past been sexually harassed by O’Reilly. One of them, Wendy Walsh, claimed to have been approached romantically by O’Reilly and that when she turned him down, he withdrew an offer to get her a contributor contract with Fox News.

The other two women Bloom represented were anonymous.

The claims against O’Reilly date back to 2004, when he was initially sued by a former producer on his show. The suit was settled without any admission of impropriety, but the New York Times complied an extensive report in early April with names and details of other women who made similar claims.

Fox said that it was investigating the matter and then on Wednesday released a statement saying that O’Reilly, who is currently on vacation, would not be returning to the channel.

“Fox News should have fired him in 2004 when the first complaint was made,” Bloom’s statement said, “but at least they did it now.”
