Three dead, including suspect, in apparent targeted shooting in Green Bay

Three people, including the shooter, were killed in what was apparently a targeted shooting at the Oneida Casino in Green Bay, according to new reports.

On Saturday night, reports emerged that a shooter opened fire at the Wisconsin casino. The incident, which the Brown County Sheriff’s Office called a “double homicide and attempted homicide,” is being investigated by the Department of Criminal Investigation. Officials will not release the names of the suspects, victims, or officers involved at this time.

Lt. Kevin Pawlak said the incident appeared to be “a targeted event, not a random shooting. So there is no threat to the community.” Investigators believe the shooter had “ties to the Oneida Casino from an employment status,” according to WLUK-TV.

“It was targeting a specific victim who was not there, but he still decided to shoot some of the victim’s friends or co-workers, it appears,” he said.

Pawlak said that in addition to the deceased, the suspected shooter struck “one other victim that is seriously wounded.” The victim is reportedly in critical condition, KABC-TV reports.

Quinn Heintz told the outlet he and his mother went to the casino and heard the gunshots.

“We didn’t know what was really going on, so we started heading back to the car, and then probably 15, 20 seconds later, we heard about 15 more gunshots, and then cops started coming in from everywhere,” he said.

Oneida Nation said it was “at a loss for words regarding yesterday’s tragic event” in a notice to casino employees, adding, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and those directly affected.”
