Pennsylvania senator dismisses DOJ report about ‘discarded’ ballots in his state: Trump is ‘seizing on’ report

Sen. Bob Casey dismissed a report from the Justice Department that some military ballots were found “discarded” in his home state of Pennsylvania.

The Democrat insisted on Friday that voting by mail is safe in Pennsylvania after being asked about the Justice Department’s findings during an interview on MSNBC.

“It’s safe to vote by mail. And, look, we know by now that everything the president says about mail-in balloting and voting in general is a lie. He lies all the time. So, nothing he says is the truth about this. That’s point No. 1. Point No. 2 is, there are going to be many opportunities for people to cast their votes in Pennsylvania. Depending on where they live, they’re going to have all kinds of choices,” Casey said. “That’s the way it should be in the middle of a pandemic.”

“The president and his team is seizing on a report from yesterday. But, look, the right to vote will be protected, and it will be done safely and legally in Pennsylvania,” he added.

The Justice Department released a report on Thursday that a “small number” of mail-in military ballots were accidentally “discarded” in Pennsylvania. The announcement came shortly after White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said some Pennsylvania ballots were found to be “cast aside.”
