Ravens cornerback and special-teams standout Corey Ivy was scheduled to remain in a Pittsburgh hospital through Tuesday night and perhaps today to recover from a kidney injury suffered in Monday night?s loss to Denver.
Ivy was listed in stable condition at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh early Tuesday morning, according to a statement released by the team. The team?s charter flight was headed for Baltimore when it decided to land and get Ivy extra medial attention.

“Although he was stable, we decided that we should get him to a hospital, where more sophisticated testing could be given, sooner rather than later,” Ravens team doctor Andy Tucker said Tuesday. “Corey is in stable condition, resting, and he?ll continue to be examined by renal specialists today. He could stay here [in Presbyterian Hospital] for up to three days for further testing and observation.”
The statement by the Ravens said Tucker remained with Ivy in Pittsburgh. After getting Ivy to the hospital, the Ravens resumed their trip to Baltimore, according the Associated Press, landing at 5:45 a.m.
Ivy was hurt during the 13-3 loss to the Broncos during a punt return, according to Tucker. Ivy had one defensive tackle and a pass deflectionin the game.
“Corey was evaluated on the field a number of times after he was hit during a punt return in the third quarter. He was examined again after the game, including with X-rays,” Tucker said.
The six-year veteran joined the Ravens during the offseason as a free agent, primarily to bolster the special-teams unit. Ivy played last season with the St. Louis Rams after four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a member of the Super Bowl XXXVII championship team in Tampa Bay.
Entering the Denver game, Ivy had seven special-teams tackles this season. Ivy has proven to be a well-liked individual inside the Ravens? locker room.
