Scott Brown said Saturday that the current state of global affairs “is what the world looks like without American leadership.”
The New Hampshire Republican Senate candidate invoked the crisis in Ukraine, the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, Israel facing rocket attacks from Gaza, an increasingly muscular China, border security issues and failures by Veterans Affairs in Saturday’s weekly Republican response to President Obama.
“We are at a dangerous moment for our country and our friends,” Brown said. “It’s starting to feel like the world is on fire, with so many crises getting worse, so many adversaries gaining ground.”
Brown called for tightening America’s borders and increased enforcement of American immigration laws, reversing the “defense drawdown of the Obama years” and addressing the scandals at Veterans Affairs.
Brown is running against Democratic incumbent Jeanne Shaheen.
“As President Obama said recently, he’s not on the ballot but his entire agenda is,” Brown said. “That’s your invitation to send the clearest possible message to the establishment in Washington.”
Shaheen leads Brown by nearly seven points in the RealClearPolitics polling average.
