Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, dethroned Joe Rogan from the top of the Spotify podcast charts in the United States the same week her podcast Archetypes debuted on the audio-streaming service.
Rogan, whose podcast The Joe Rogan Experience previously topped the charts, had held the coveted position for most of the show’s tenure, which began in 2020. Meghan’s new podcast, which premiered Tuesday, is also No. 1 in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, according to the Wrap.

PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN ADOPT RESCUED BEAGLE
Meghan’s podcast aims to examine stereotypes women face in professional and social environments. In a teaser for the podcast in March, Meghan said she would be talking to professional women while exploring how the stereotypes originated.
“I’ll have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives,” the duchess shared at the time, “and I’ll talk to historians to understand how we even got here in the first place.”
The first episode discussed the double standards related to the word “ambition” and its negative connotations when used on women. The topic was discussed with Meghan’s first guest, tennis star Serena Williams, who will mark her retirement from the sport after the U.S. Open.
“This feminist ideology trickled down into nearly every aspect of my education. It’s probably safe to say into every aspect of my life,” Meghan said in the episode. “This message to me and my classmates was clear: Our futures as young women were limitless. Ambition? That was the whole point. I don’t remember ever personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ‘ambitious’ until I started dating my now-husband. And apparently, ambition is a terrible, terrible thing for a woman that is — according to some.”
Additionally, Meghan’s podcast this week outperformed HBO’s new Game of Thrones podcast that accompanied the first episode of its spinoff series, The House of the Dragon, which premiered Sunday with record numbers. It also beat the Girls Next Level podcast hosted by The Girls Next Door stars Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, who discuss their time in the Playboy mansion, according to the Wrap.
