Obama stumps for governor who called Trump ‘clear and present danger’

President Obama spoke at two fundraising events in Seattle, Wash., Friday, including one for a governor who may be more critical of the Republican nominee than he is.

First-term Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee earlier this month promised the state Democratic Convention that he would “stand up against hate.”

Lest anyone miss the point, he tweeted right after that presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump “presents a clear and present danger to our state and that is not something leaders should be quiet about.”

Obama attaboyed those remarks at the Inslee $250-a-seat fundraiser Friday, saying, “We don’t have time for charlatans, and we don’t have time for hatred and we don’t have time for bigotry.”

The president also generally accused Republicans of being obstructionist by standing in the way of the governor’s agenda.

Washington Republicans, for their part, tried to throw that obstructionist charge right back in the governor’s face by noting that he recently had his vetoes of 27 bills overridden by the legislature — the first time that’s happened since 1998.
