Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina has raised $6.8 million since July and spent approximately $2.2 million of it, her campaign spokesoman announced Tuesday.
However, her fundraising figures pale in comparison to GOP rivals Ted Cruz and Ben Carson who recently unveiled their own totals from the same fundraising period. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, raised over $20 million, while Cruz, a Texas senator, hauled in $12.2 million. Fiorina now has $5.5 million cash on hand.
Fiorina’s numbers do little to reinforce her top-tier status in the GOP field, following a brief hiatus from public campaign events since she swung through New Hampshire at the beginning of the month. Her noticeable absence caused her to drop to fourth place in this week’s Washington Examiner presidential power rankings.
The former business executive will head to Iowa Thursday for a three-day swing through the key early-voting state. She recently lost her No. 3 position in the GOP field to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, dropping to 8.9 percent support among Republican voters in the latest RealClearPolitics national polling average.
Full details of Fiorina’s fundraising numbers will be made available Oct. 15, the Federal Election Commission’s official reporting deadline for candidates’ October quarterly filings.
