When the Redskins traded for Donovan McNabb, his contract naturally came up in conversations with NFL sources. And one of them said he had heard that McNabb wanted to be paid Tom Brady/Peyton Manning money. Nobody from his side has really come out and said that, but it does seem clear that McNabb thinks he belongs in that company. Of course, he’d be the only one without a Super Bowl, but he does have six Pro Bowls and five NFC Championship Game appearances (one Super Bowl loss, too).
On his weekly radio appearance with ESPN 980 today, McNabb told Kevin Sheehan and The Washington Examiner‘s Thom Loverro that he belonged in the “elite” class when it came to quarterbacks. He was referring to a group that included Brady, Manning and Drew Brees. Of the first two, McNabb said,”It’s about winning in this league, secondary is numbers or whatever else they look at. And us three really in the past 10, 11 years, we’re all up at the top of the list.”

Just remember that when it comes to his negotiations. Last week, Brady signed a four-year, $72-million extension with New England.
