Who knew? Famous foodie Michel Richard is a big art fan and jumped at the chance to create a menu for the National Gallery’s Garden Cafe to be paired with the new exhibit “From Impressionism to Modernism: The Chester Dale Collection.” “When people from the museum called me and asked me to be part of it, I was in love with the idea,” the portly chef and owner of D.C.’s Citronelle gushed to Yeas & Nays, revealing that as a boy he aspired to be “better than Van Gogh,” but switched to the kitchen instead. Richard even dashed across the cafe and into one of the galleries to show off his favorite painting, a Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, to a reporter. The French chef’s menu includes Soupe a l’oignon, ratatouille and mousse au chocolat. This is the second time the National Gallery of Art has partnered up with a big-name chef, the last time being Spanish great Jose Andres.
