WATCH: Don Rickles roasts Ronald Reagan

The late comedian Don Rickles proved that no one was truly safe from his caustic wit — even future presidents.

Then-California Gov. Ronald Reagan was the subject of one of Dean Martin’s famous roasts in 1974, in which Rickles didn’t hold back in his skewering of the Gipper.

“The governor is the greatest politician of all time; he laughs at everything. ‘My brother died!'” Rickles joked while mimicking Reagan’s laughter.

It was Rickles first formal meeting of Reagan.

“Black, White, Jew, Gentile, we’re all working towards one cause: to figure out how you became governor,” Rickles joked.

Rickles passed away Thursday at 90.
