Orange Line trains to be disrupted again this weekend

Orange Line riders who braved a second weekend of delays that split the Metrorail line into two should gear up for another set of delays this coming weekend.

The transit agency has been running free shuttle buses instead of trains between East Falls Church and West Falls Church stations over the weekends because of construction on the 23-mile Dulles Rail line.

The same weekend schedule will start Friday: trains will share a single track between East Falls Church and Vienna at 10 p.m. Friday through the 3 a.m. closing. Then Saturday through Sunday, the train will run shuttle buses between the Falls Church stations. Riders passing through the area should add 30 minutes onto their trips.

Warning: the transit agency’s online Trip Planner does not include the changes.

Over this past weekend, 26,517 people used the shuttle buses to help complete their trips, slightly down from the 36,324 people who used the free shuttle on the longer three-day holiday weekend.
