Top Five: Struggling QBs at area colleges

After starting 2-0, five local Division I college football teams lost Saturday. The common theme was poor quarterback play. Who struggled the most?

5. Yale 24, Georgetown 21 » With 11 penalties and five turnovers, the Bulldogs tried to hand this one to the Hoyas. But Georgetown didn’t oblige as junior Aaron Aiken (11-for-25, 94 yards) threw an interception and lost a fumble.

4. Georgia Tech 56, Virginia 20 » Georgia Tech’s Tevin Washington rushed 11 times for 93 yards and three touchdowns and completed six of eight passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, outplaying Michael Rocco (15-for-25, 143 yards, two interceptions).

3. Pittsburgh 35, Virginia Tech 17 ?» Against a defense that entered with one sack and no turnovers, Logan Thomas (14-for-31, 265 yards, TD) threw three interceptions in the first half and was outplayed by Tino Sunseri (19-for-28, 283 yards, three TDs).

2. Connecticut 24, Maryland 20 ?» Freshman Perry Hills (10-for-24, 109 yards, TD) was rattled by the rush of the Huskies. He was sacked six times and intercepted once. Four of the sacks forced the Terps to punt, and Hills fumbled it away on another sack.

Trey Miller was under siege, and his numbers showed it: 6-for-13 for 22 yards and an interception and 18 carries for 21 yards with two lost fumbles. Meanwhile, the Mids put no pressure on Matt McGloin, who threw four touchdown passes.
