Pew: ‘Overwhelming’ support for Trump on North Korea

President Trump has hit a home run with his handling of North Korea, with more than seven of 10 backing direct talks between the two former Cold War nations.

Pew Research Center revealed Thursday that 71 percent back Trump’s outreach. “Americans overwhelmingly support direct talks between the United States and North Korea over its nuclear program,” said the survey firm.

However nearly half feel that the communist nation isn’t serious about real talks.

And Americans also told Pew that they favor Trump talking with North Korea more than they did former President Barack Obama negotiating the now dead nuclear deal with Iran.

Pew also looked at the impact of Trump’s foreign policy. In his Inaugural Address, for example, he pushed an “America First” view of doing more for Americans at home than for others overseas.

And the public seems to appreciate that, with the numbers of those who feel Washington does too much overseas down. “Americans are now evenly split over whether the U.S. does too little (33 percent), too much (30 percent) or the right amount (29 percent) to solve world problems; that is a change from two years ago, when the plurality view (41 percent) was that the U.S. did too much globally,” said Pew.
