Jon Huntsman Jr. said he has tested positive for the coronavirus as he seeks to reclaim the governor’s seat in Utah.
Huntsman said Wednesday he has been experiencing the “classic” symptoms of the virus, which tend to be similar to the flu.
“Though isolated temporarily, we’ve never been more energized in this important race for Governor,” he tweeted. “The work goes on!”
After a second try, test results came back positive for Covid-19. Have been experiencing classic symptoms..like so many others, my goal is to keep my family safe. Though isolated temporarily, we’ve never been more energized in this important race for Governor. The work goes on!

Huntsman tested negative for the virus before a gubernatorial candidate forum in May and was tested again Friday after a staff member was confirmed to have the disease.
He was initially told his test last week was negative but was then told it was the “wrong” result. Later, he learned the test sample had been destroyed. He took another test on Tuesday, and members of his family were also being tested.
Huntsman, who was elected twice as Utah governor, is running for the Republican nomination against three other candidates. He stepped down as governor in 2009, after his reelection, to be the U.S. ambassador to China. He was most recently the U.S. ambassador to Russia.
