Trump to meet with Paul Ryan next week

Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan plan to meet behind closed doors next week, the presumptive Republican nominee told Fox News Friday morning.

“I know we’re meeting next week. They wanted to meet next week,” Trump said during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

A spokesperson for Ryan could not be reached to confirm the meeting is set.

But Trump said he has “absolutely no idea” what he and the Wisconsin Republican, who will preside as chairman over the Republican National Convention in July, plan to discuss during the meeting.

“I was very, very surprised,” the billionaire said of Ryan’s refusal to endorse him on Thursday. “I mean, he talks about unity, but what is this about unity?”

During an interview Thursday afternoon with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Ryan said he was “just not ready” to endorse Trump or lend him his support.

“To be perfectly candid with you … I’m just not ready to do that at this point,” the House Speaker told Tapper. “There are lots of questions that conservatives I think want answers to, myself included.”

“It doesn’t bother me at all,” Trump said Friday, referring to Ryan’s skepticism.
