CNN’s John Harwood announced he’s the latest to leave the network, explaining Friday that he is leaving his gig as White House correspondent.
Harwood has been the correspondent since January 2020, previously working as CNBC’s correspondent from 2006-2019. His departure comes after the network’s recent change in leadership.

“Personal news: today’s my last day at CNN,” Harwood tweeted. “Proud of the work. Thanks to my colleagues. I’ve been lucky to serve the best in American media — St. Petersburg Times, WSJ, NYT, the NBC family, CNN. Look forward to figuring out what’s next.”

Harwood’s announcement comes within weeks of Brian Stelter’s departure as his show, Reliable Sources, was canceled. Stelter had been with the network since 2013.
Legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin similarly announced he would be leaving the network in a tweet last month. Toobin had been with the network for 20 years, aside from a brief period of suspension he faced for exposing himself on a video work call.

Anchor Christi Paul left the network in June, opting instead to spend more time with her family. During her on-screen announcement, she alluded that there was a “great resignation” going on at the network. Paul had also been with the network for almost 20 years leading up to her departure.
Chris Cuomo‘s exit occurred late last year amid accusations of assisting his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, while he faced sexual assault allegations, as well as sexual misconduct accusations leveled against himself. This occurred just before former CNN CEO Jeff Zucker’s resignation, which came about as a result of an internal investigation into the network.
