Another weekend, another set of Metro closures and single tracking.
This time, all lines on the rail system will have delays except for the Blue Line, with most of the work starting at 10 p.m. Friday and lasting through Sunday night.
- ORANGE LINE: The transit agency plans to shut down service between East and West Falls Church stations, with free shuttle buses to cover the gap.
- RED LINE: Two spots will be narrowed to a single track, with trains taking turns to travel through the bottlenecks between Van Ness and Friendship Heights and between New York Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue.
- GREEN LINE: Trains will share a single track in two spots: between Naylor Road and Branch Avenue and between L’Enfant Plaza and Mt. Vernon Square.
-
YELLOW LINE: This line’s riders aren’t spared. On Saturday and Sunday, the agency said that it plans to operate all Yellow Line trains on the Blue Line tracks between Huntington and Stadium-Armory, which means trips will take about 15 longer for riders to get from the Pentagon stop to L’Enfant Plaza.
Also, riders need to board Yellow Line trains at L’Enfant Plaza on the lower level, not the upper level, on those days.
