A large blow-up dinosaur, affixed with a sign reading “Why are Union Dinosaurs trying to make Secret Ballot Elections Extinct?”, stood its ground in the afternoon heat, silently relaying its message to passersby.
The Center for Union Facts, an organization that promotes the exposure of union attempts to erode the secret ballot process traditionally used to elect union leaders, used this ancient beast to put forward its strong sentiment on the subject.
The display comes within a few days of a pivotal debate within the Senate over the Employee Free Choice Act which could, if passed, get rid of the secret ballot election process, replacing it instead with what the bill’s supporters call a “card check” system.
