This was National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis in an announcement last week. As Kedar Pavgi reports in Government Executive, the Interior Department will not be furloughing park police as had been planned/threatened last February. The sequester would, in this scenario, have forced national parks to make serious cuts, thus doing serious damage to the tourist industry … and so forth.
Now, it seems, there is money to keep the park police on duty. And in more good news:
