WHAT: Handed out $835,000 to Michigan State University for a study on plankton ecology, $440,000 to the University of Michigan for the study of black holes, and $322,000 to Eastern Michigan University to research Arctic languages.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: Appropriating taxpayers’ money to study black holes, plankton, and Arctic languages is not going to stimulate the economy or create jobs.
