Baltimore man pleads not guilty in Cross Keys robbery

A Baltimore man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to armed robbery charges in a March shooting at the Village of Cross Keys.

Corey A. McLeaurin, 29, of the 3400 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway, is charged with robbing Mark Beckwith of $5,900 on March 17 as Beckwith was going to make a bank depositat the shopping center, in the 5100 block of Falls Road in Baltimore.

McLeaurin and Keith Love, 22, walked up to Beckwith?s car at about 4 p.m., opened the driver?s side door and started beating him to get to several brown paper bags of cash Beckwith had, according to court documents.

Beckwith pulled out a gun, for which he had a valid permit, and shot at McLeaurin and Love as they took off with two paper bags and an envelope, containing more than $11,000 in all, the documents say.

Love died from his injuries, police said.

McLeaurin later went to Maryland General Hospital with a gunshot injury to his hand.

He is scheduled for trial on Aug. 8.
