Service outages swept the Gulf Coast Friday morning as Tropical Storm Nicholas continued to roll through the region.
Many Verizon Wireless members in Georgia and Alabama experienced service outages at roughly 5 a.m., with surrounding states Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida also experiencing some outages. After tweeting about service outages Friday morning, meteorologist Tyler Sebree wrote roughly an hour later that his service had returned and that he “couldn’t be happier.”

After one Twitter user claimed that the outage was occurring along most of the east coast and that even New York was experiencing outages, Verizon responded that it would be happy to look into the service concerns.
While no cause has been reported for the outages, Tropical Storm Nicholas deluges the region, with Terrebonne and Lafourche in Louisiana experiencing four to six inches of rain, and an additional three to six inches is expected through Friday. No deaths have been reported as a result of the storm.
