Colorado Senate Democrats: We’ll give Sessions our legal pot ‘when he pries it from our warm, extremely interesting to look at hands’

The Colorado State Senate Democratic Caucus harshed the mellow of Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday, while lightheartedly lampooning the effects of marijuana after it was reported that he would be rescinding Obama-era policies protecting states who legalize pot.

“We’ll give Jeff Sessions our legal pot when he pries it from our warm, extremely interesting to look at hands,” the caucus tweeted.

The Twitter account followed the initial tweet with a thread of information about how the legalized pot industry has economically transformed the state.

“Since legalization, marijuana has generated $617,767,334 in tax revenue,” the caucus wrote. “Instead of going to drug cartels, that money helps fund our schools and addiction treatment programs for more dangerous drugs.”

Sessions will announce Thursday he is rescinding Obama administration memos that set forth policies or non-interference with states that legalize marijuana.

The move is a source of controversy across the nation on Thursday as the policies are said to have paved the way for the legalized pot industry to flourish in multiple states.

In 2012, Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize marijuana for recreational use. Six states now follow the same practice.
