Authorities have put a temporary stop to three Canadians accused of tricking small-business owners in Wisconsin and all over the United States into paying more than $14million combined for unwanted yellow page listings online.
The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against the men and their companies Monday. A federal judge has temporarily halted the operation and frozen the assets of the defendants, the FTC said in a news release Tuesday. The FTC is seeking to stop the operation and get the victims’ money back.
