HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaiian Airlines’ consolidated adjusted net income jumped 78 percent during the third quarter from the same period a year earlier to $45.5 million.
The Honolulu-based airline said Tuesday its operating revenue climbed more than 20 percent from the third quarter of 2011. It also expanded capacity by 28 percent.
The growth came as Hawaiian began flying non-stop from Honolulu to Seoul on a daily basis instead of four times a week. The airline also began nonstop service to New York City and Fukuoka, Japan earlier this year.
CEO Mark Dunkerley says Hawaiian is pleased to report improving margins while it’s growing so quickly.
The airline says its operating revenue per available seat mile — or one seat flown one mile —dropped nearly 6 percent during the quarter.
