Ex-Carroll secretary gets six months for embezzlement

A former Carroll County school secretary was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing more than $13,000 in student funds.

While a secretary at Shiloh Middle School, Linda Sprinkle, 54, of Hanover, Pa., pocketed money collected at school dances, book fairs, field trips, fundraisers and a benefit for families of Sept. 11 victims, according to court documents. She was convicted in December.

Carroll Circuit Judge Michael M. Galloway last week also ordered Sprinkle to pay restitution and gave her five years probation, according to the Carroll County State?s Attorney?s office.

She is the second Carroll County school secretary to face jail time in recent months. Wendy Sue Bowers, former financial secretary of South Carroll High School, pleaded guilty to embezzling $206,564 and earned a 15-month prison sentence in Janurary.
