Obama Campaign Attempts More Damage Control With Second Small Business Ad

Barack Obama’s arrogant jab to small business owners appears to have forced his campaign into major damage control mode as yesterday, the Obama campaign released their second  TV ad that attempted to “clarify” the President’s initial statement about small business owners not actually receiving full credit for their success.

The first ad, “Tampered,” employed a solemn tone of disapproval and did not actually feature President Obama trying to clarify his comments. Meanwhile, the new ad, “Always,” is much different in terms of presentation, and apparent sincerity, with the president seated in a dining room, talking directly to the American people.

“Always” features an upbeat and more positive tone, and President Obama appears alone, attempting to spin his initial message with a message that sounds very similar to Mitt Romney’s campaign message.

Obama says that Romney’s ads are “flat-out wrong,” and “what I said was, that we need to stand behind [small business owners].”

The President kept his message short and simple, but it will be interesting to see if this ad employs enough sincerity for the campaign to recover from his initial gaffe. Telling Americans, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that,” was an incredibly offensive attack upon millions of hardworking men and women who have built, or one day dream of building their own small business without the help of the federal government.

The Republican National Committee isn’t buying the Obama campaign’s “blame Romney” and “words out of context” defense, so they have released a new ad titled: “The More Context You Get, The Worse It Sounds.” The RNC plays the entire small business comment in context, with text, for viewers with the simple line, “the more context you get, the worse it sounds” appearing before and after the president’s remarks.
