Montgomery County rescuers freed one horse but couldn’t save another after they were trapped when a barn collapsed Wednesday morning in Silver Spring.
Workers spent 4.5 hours on the scene but were forced to euthanize one horse down after an unsuccessful rescue attempt, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman said.
The barn collapsed near the intersection of Layhill Road and Norbeck Road.
