MS-13 members convicted Three members of the MS-13 gang were convicted Wednesday of racketeering charges that included murder, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District said.

A jury convicted William Cordova (26), Jose Gutierrez (21) and Melvin Sorto (24) of taking part in gang activities that included the April 2007 murder of rival gang member Edwin Ventura in Columbia Heights.

They were also accused of other assaults around the area, including shooting three people sitting in a car at a traffic light in Alexandria and at a woman waiting for a bus in Petworth.

All three face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

Search continues for missing Va. girl

An arrest warrant has been issued for the man suspected of abducting a Virginia girl.

An Amber Alert was sent out earlier this week for 12-year-old Brittany Mae Smith of Roanoke County. Police are looking for Jeffrey Scott Easley, who lived with Brittany and her mother, in connection with the girl’s disappearance and have an issued a warrant for his arrest.

Brittany’s mother, Tina Smith, was found dead in their home Monday morning. Her death is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Brittany and Easley were last seen Friday at a Walmart in Salem, Va.

Roanoke County Police Chief Ray Lavinder said Wednesday that he believed someone was hiding them.

Caregiver gets jail for assault

A former employee of a D.C. residential care provider will serve 90 days in jail for assaulting a man in his care.

James A. Little Jr., of the District, worked for Innovative Life Solutions when he hit a man, who had cognitive disabilities, in the head, shoulder and hand in January.

Little, 49, is also banned from working with vulnerable people and must attend anger management counseling.
