Celtics look to find home away from home

Celtics forward Paul Pierce didn?t waste anytime stating what was on his mind following his team?s 103-97 loss to the visiting Detroit Pistons in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday night.

“It?s definitely going to be a challenge for us, because we haven?t won a game on the road,” he said. “We have no choice now but to get it done.”

But getting it done away from TD Banknorth Garden hasn?t been challenging for the Celtics this postseason, it?s been impossible.

The loss to the Pistons dropped the Celtics to 9-1 at home in the playoffs, but the team that finished the regular season with the best overall and top road record has yet to win in six games away from the Garden.

The Pistons host Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday, and with a third potential home date for Game 6, they could finish off the Celtics in the best-of-7 series without having to win another game in Boston.

“We?re geeked about getting back to our home court,” Pistons guard Richard Hamilton, who had 25 points in Game 2, said. “The fans are excited, and now it?s our job to take care of home court.”

And with the way the Celtics have played in opponents? arenas this year, that shouldn?t be hard.

“If we want what we want, we have to win on the road,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. “That?s just the way it is.”
